The Forbidden Kingdom, starring Jet Li and Jackie Chan, is getting a sequel following its box office success.

The sequel was already planned before the movie was released, but the making of the sequel would only be confirmed if the movie is doing well. Considering that it has topped the North America box office and is doing very well in Asian market, a sequel is now almost a certainty.

Charlie Chan, Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan’s father, was laid buried in Gungahlin Cemetery in north Canberra Saturday noon (March 8) after a funeral was held in the morning in the DC Vine Function Center in Canberra.

Jackie Chan and his family members, Charlie’s friends and relatives and local celebrities attended the funeral. Charge d’ affaires of Chinese Embassy Li Jiangning was also present.

Chinese kung fu actor Jet Li made the most money in 2007 among China’s entertainment elite, totaling some 465 million yuan, or around 62 million US dollars, as listed by Shanghai-based Oriental Morning Post on Wednesday.

The movie is scheduled to premier in US on April 18, 2008.

Yao was on his way back to US to prepare for the new basketball season, while Jackie has just arrived in Shanghai for the Special Olympics World Summer Games.

New Line Cinema’s Rush Hour 3, starring Chinese martial arts hero Jackie Chan, topped North American box office this weekend as this summer’s last blockbuster, while Hollywood’s hot summer season is approaching its end.
The third installment of the comedy-action franchise about a Hong Kong police inspector and a LAPD agent took in an estimated 50.2 million dollars over the three-day period in its debut weekend, according to box office tracking firm Media By Numbers Sunday.
But the film’s debuting take fell well short of the 67.4 million dollars made by its predecessor, “Rush Hour 2,” in August 2001.

Chinese star Crystal Liu Yifei is rumored joining William Morris Agency (WMA), one of the largest diversified talent and literary agencies in the world.

The current famous celebrities in the company include Julia Roberts, Mel Gibson and Zhang Ziyi.
It’s reported that WMA was influential in getting the leading role in movie Forbidden Kingdom (previously known as King of Kungfu, starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li) for Crystal.
Update - the rumor has been denied by Crystal’s agency.

Chinese actress Li Bingbing has been tipped as the most likely candidate to star alongside Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the highly anticipated movie King of Kungfu.

Li Bingbing has always been a favourites to play one of the two leading female roles, as her agency Huayi Brothers is one of the major investor of the movie.
Insider tips suggested that Li has already secured the role as the producers are quite impressed with her English communication, as well as her performances in some previous martial art movies.
Other favourite candidates to land the second female role are Crystal Liu, Fann Wong and Ruby Lin.

As always, the press always relate her with Jaycee Chan, her rumoured boyfriend and the son of the famous action star Jackie Chan… Fiona Sit was asked with she would invite Jaycee to her concert, and she gave a rather ambiguous answer, as always too.
