Korean pop star Rain is making his Hollywood debut in May with big budget movie Speed Racer, starring as Taejo Togokhan, an Asian racer that is forced to defend his family name when they are threatened by evil empire, the Royalton Industries.

The Stareastasia team was given the chance to phone-interview the star on April 25 during the world premiere of the Speed Racer in Los Angeles.

The obvious question is… how good is his English? Well, the interview was done via an interpreter, so we can safely assume that his English still needs some improvement.

Rain was being frank with that though, stated that he “doesn’t want to make any mistakes in public,” and that he will be “much better next year.”

Asked if there is any major different between working in Korea and US (the movie was actually filmed in Germany btw); the 26-year-old star said that there is not much different (besides the English).

He also said that the cast was working like a family, and he made some good friends, especially with Susan Sarandon and Matthew Fox; while the directors were really nice and great to work with.

Asked if it is the proudest achievement in his entertainment career, Rain agreed that it’s the proudest moment in his career, and that he wishes more proud moments to come in the future. We wish the best for him too.
