It’s rumoured that Zhang Ziyi will star in the Chinese movie version of popular Korean drama Daejanggeum.

According to reports a production company has invited fame director Zhang Yimou to direct the movie with Hollywood in mind, and Ziyi is the hot favourite to play the lead role, which was played by Lee Young-ae in the original drama.
Chinese star Faye Wong was Wednesday named Asia’s sexiest female vegetarian in a poll run by animal rights group PETA, while Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachan won the male poll.

PETA has a history of using celebrities to attract public attention to its campaigns, notably persuading supermodels including Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell to pose naked for posters bearing the slogan “I’d rather go naked than wear fur.”

Hong Kong celebrity couple Tony Leung and Carina Lau are going to marry this October according to media speculations. It’s reported that the couple is sending out wedding invitations since last Friday to their friends and relatives.

British heartthrob Hugh Grant and Memoirs of a Geisha star Zhang Ziyi are to star in a romantic comedy set in the world of moviemaking.

Grant, 47, will play an actor who is approached for a part in a film being directed by Zhang, who plays a Chinese film-maker. Grant’s character falls for his translator before eventually realizing he is in love with the director.
Lost for Words is to be directed by Danish film-maker Susanne Bier, whose 2006 film After the Wedding was nominated for the best foreign language film Oscar.
Bier’s last film was drama Things We Lost in the Fire starring Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro.

The first official poster for Chinese movie “War of Red Cliff” was released to the press last week. Directed by John Woo and starring Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Vicki Zhao and Lin Chi Ling etc., the movie is highly anticipated in China and across Asia.

Jet Li has announced that he would be staying away from the entertainment world for about a year to concentrate on the reconstruction in the Sichuan quake zones.

Jet Li’s disaster-relief One Foundation has set up an office in Sichuan last week, and will focus on rebuilding schools and providing special care for those left orphaned or disabled.

The sequel was already planned before the movie was released, but the making of the sequel would only be confirmed if the movie is doing well. Considering that it has topped the North America box office and is doing very well in Asian market, a sequel is now almost a certainty.
