Korean pop star Rain is making his Hollywood debut in May with big budget movie Speed Racer, starring as Taejo Togokhan, an Asian racer that is forced to defend his family name when they are threatened by evil empire, the Royalton Industries.
The Stareastasia team was given the chance to phone-interview the star on April 25 during the world premiere of the Speed Racer in Los Angeles.
The obvious question is… how good is his English? Well, the interview was done via an interpreter, so we can safely assume that his English still needs some improvement.

Korean actor Ko Soo has completed his 2-years mandatory military service on April 25.

The popular actor was welcomed by hundreds of fans, including a large group of Japanese, at a public appearance after completing his last day of service.
Ko Soo will be back to entertainment world pretty soon, but not in any movies or dramas. He will making his comeback in some stage performances instead, which is scheduled to run from May 23 to Aug 3.

Korean actor Choi Min-soo is in lots of trouble following this violent act against a 73-year-old man.

Choi is alleged to have punch the old man and drove 200 meters with the old man on the hood of his car when he was trying to flee the scene.
The actor held a press conference on April 24 to apologise to the public and the victim. Choi and the old man have reached a settlement, but it’s likely that he would still be charged for criminal offense.

Korean actress Kim Ah-jong will not be starring in the sequel of popular movie 200 Pounds Beauty.

The production company has confirmed that Kim has declined the offer for the lead role. The spokesperson also revealed that a popular singer will be replacing Kim, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Korean pop star Rain will begin his world tour to promote his Hollywood debut movie, Speed Racer, starting from Korea on April 20.

Rain will then promote the film in Hong Kong on April 23 before moving to Los Angeles, where he will join producer Joel Silver, actors Emile Hirsch and Matthew Fox for the premiere. Rain is also scheduled for a Japan appearance in June.
At USD300 million for its production and USD80 million in marketing costs, Speed Racer is a hefty blockbuster about the best racers around the world battling in cars equipped with cutting-edge technology.
